ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Born on the shore of the Japanese Sea in Vladivostok, Russia, Anna currently finds herself writing from the island of Manhattan and the forests of New York's Harriman State Park. Her dispatches varied in form and substance over time; after years of academic work and legal practice, she finally finds herself writing pieces she truly enjoys. When she is not practicing or teaching, she continues to develop her craft as an MFA student at the City College of New York, the program during which she has completed her first biographical novel (for which she received the Jerome Lowell Dejur Prize in Creative Writing) and has begun her work on the second--this time, autobiographical--manuscript (selected a Finalist for the Nyman Family Project Award). Her short fiction appeared in Visitant Lit, The Writing Disorder, The Airgonaut, Nailed Magazine, and elsewhere; her nonfiction was long-listed for Cosmonaut Avenue’s Nonfiction Prize. Although Anna loves (and writes mostly in) English, Russian will forever remain her mother tongue.

"Your little will can't do anything. It takes Great Determination.
Great Determination doesn't mean just you making an effort.
It means the whole universe is behind you and with you:
the birds, trees, sky, moon, and ten directions."
