ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Born on the shore of the Japanese Sea in Vladivostok, Russia, Anna currently finds herself writing from the island of Manhattan and the fields of New Jersey's Black Dirt Region. Her dispatches varied in form and substance over time; after years of academic work and legal practice, she finally finds herself writing pieces she truly enjoys. She continues to develop her craft as an MFA student at the City College of New York, the program during which she has completed her first biographical novel (for which she received the Jerome Lowell Dejur Prize in Creative Writing) and has begun her work on the second--this time, autobiographical--manuscript (selected a Finalist for the Nyman Family Project Award). Her short fiction appeared in Visitant Lit, The Writing Disorder, and The Airgonaut; her nonfiction was long-listed for Cosmonaut Avenue’s Nonfiction Prize. Although Anna loves (and writes exclusively in) English, Russian will forever remain her mother tongue.
